Product Description
Stainless Steel Pressurized Composite Buffer Tank
Stainless Steel Pressurized Composite Buffer Tank
INLIGHT manufactures a large range of stainless buffer tanks with different coil configurations.
Heating Systems: In heating systems, a buffer tank stores excess hot water produced by a boiler or heat pump. This helps to prevent short cycling of the heating equipment, which can lead to inefficiencies and wear.
Cooling Systems: In chilled water systems, a buffer tank stores cold water to ensure consistent cooling, compensating for fluctuations in cooling demand.
Application
Heat pump with a buffer can reduce labor costs for installation, while being a cost-effective way to increase system efficiency by reducing heat pump short cycling during low load periods and hydraulically decoupling the source from the distribution system. Our NSF certified polypropylene core is rated to 180 degrees Fahrenheit at 75 PSI and 140 degrees Fahrenheit at 100 PSI, surrounded by a continuous fiberglass and high temperature resin blend, making inlight surge tanks ideal for hydronic and geothermal heating and cooling, low mass boiler systems, and chilled water applications. Argosy tanks are insulated with closed cell foam to provide R-values unmatched by competitors with heat losses of less than 1 degree/hour. Tanks are available in 30, 50, 80, 120, 150, 200 liter sizes and all feature 4 side ports, a hot well, vent, vacuum breaker, and drain.

Buffer Operation: The primary purpose of a buffer tank is to reduce short cycling of a heat pump, chiller or boiler. A hydraulic buffer tank is used in systems that experience below design load conditions most of the time, or in systems that call for multiple low BTU cooling or heating loads at different times. This can cause the heat pump or boiler to short cycle, which reduces operating efficiency and shortens the life of the equipment.

FAQ
 What Buffer does?
The buffer tank has 4 connections built into it. Two connections can be piped to the heat pump or boiler and two connections can be piped to the distribution system. If piped correctly, the tank can act as a thermal buffer and a hydraulic decoupler. The heat pump or boiler can be hydraulically decoupled from the distribution system.
